One Fish Two Fish
Virginia Beach Restaurant Reviews
Summary – outstanding seafood restaurant in Virginia Beach, attentive service, boating atmosphere, perfect for a dinner date or a special occasion with friends.
Waterfront Dining
The One Fish Two Fish restaurant is nestled between the boats docks on the Lynnhaven River near Shore Drive and Great Neck in North Virginia Beach. We made reservations on a cold and rainy Sunday night in January which was funny in hindsight because there was hardly anyone there. Reservations are accepted and highly recommended during warmer weather.
The restaurant is well appointed with an open bar on one side and waterfront seating on the other. The open kitchen takes up the middle with bar type seating on three sides. We chose a booth next to an enormous wine cabinet which led me to order a California Shiraz. One Fish Two Fish provides a wonderful atmosphere and I will go back again simply because it made me feel good being there. It was obviously created to wow people with an amazing dining experience.
You Can't Go Wrong With Seafood
The fish chowder was perhaps the most delicious soup I have ever tasted. The chef didn’t hold back on the salt and pepper and it was very rich and creamy and full of fish (though not uncommon in a fish chowder) . Instead of slurping it down like I usually do, my wife was happy to see me savor every spoonful. Simply delicious.
It is always wise to ask the waiter to remove the bread early but I was scolded by my wife for not asking her first. I was proven correct when she couldn’t finish her dinner. We were at One Fish Two Fish to eat fish, not bread. Still, served with warm butter, what’s not to like?
In addition to the fish chowder, we also shared a scallop appetizer topped with an orange reduction sauce. Highly recommended.
My wife had the parmesan flounder and I had the sesame encrusted ahi, rare, sashimi grade. I don’t think you can go wrong with any fish at One Fish Two Fish, but the ahi that night will be the reference point from which all other fish meals will be measured. The anglers unload their catches practically next door so you know you’re getting it fresh.
The Best Seafood Restaurant
In Virginia Beach?
We walked out after spending about $100 including wine and tip. When someone asks me which restaurant they should go to for fish in Virginia Beach, I won’t hesitate to say One Fish Two Fish.
